Racism. It Stops with Me

is a campaign which invites all Australians to reflect on what they can do to counter racism wherever it happens.

Why do we need this campaign

While cultural diversity is central to our national identity, the reality is that too many Australians experience racism, prejudice and discrimination on a regular basis. Racism locks people out of social and economic opportunities. It costs workplaces and our economy and it works against our goal of building fair, inclusive communities.

Around 1 in 5 Australians

say they have experienced race-hate talk such as verbal abuse, racial slurs or name-calling.

Racism. It Stops with Me and the National Anti-Racism Strategy were launched on 24 August 2012.

Racism. It Stops with Me aims to

  1. Ensure more Australians recognise that racism is unacceptable in our community
  2. Give more Australians the tools & resources to take practical action against racism
  3. Empower individuals & organisations to prevent & respond effectively to racism

This campaign is an initiative of the National Anti-Racism Strategy.
